The first CS:GO Major in two years will take place in Stockholm from October 23 to November 7. This was announced by the PGL company, which will be the organizer of the tournament. The decisive matches will take place in the last four days at the Ericsson Globe with spectators. The tournament will feature the largest prize pool in the history of CS: GO majors – $ 2 million. Recall that Valve allocated a million dollars for the previous competition. PGL noted that other details, including the format and information on the tickets, will be released by the organizers at a later date.
The last CS: GO Major – StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 – took place a year and a half ago. After that, the coronavirus pandemic began, due to which the tournament in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for March 11-24, 2020, and another autumn event, the venue of which was not announced, were canceled.
Astralis coach Danny zonic Sorensen commented on the news of the next CS: GO Major in Stockholm. He is glad that the tournament will be held in Europe, but believes that the championship in Brazil should still take place.
zonic: “I am glad that the Major will take place not far from home, but I sympathize with the Brazilian community. They deserve a Major! Maybe next time”.
Initially, the next CS: GO Major – ESL One Rio 2020 – was supposed to take place in Brazil in May 2020, but later it was postponed to November. In September, the championship was canceled completely, the reason for this decision was the coronavirus pandemic.
