ENCE eSports player Miikka suNny Kemppi told how his team trained for IEM Beijing 2019 on CS: GO. In an interview with HLTV, he admitted that the Finnish team perceives the Beijing tournament as an element of preparation for next year.
“After DreamHack in Malmö, we took a short break because half of the team got sick. We started training only when everyone got better. We had several busy days of 7-8 hours of practice and two hours of theory. We also spent a week bootcamp in front of Beijing.
During training at the bootcamp, it seemed to us that we won in almost all matches. Although, of course, these results are not very significant. We could not repeat them here at the tournament. I don’t know why it happened. It seemed to me that we were having problems with communication on the first maps. We seem to be afraid to win, if I may say so. We just need to concentrate and do everything sequentially in each match.
We set quite clear goals, and now our main task is to prepare for the next year. “We will not be happy if we leave the tournament after the group stage, but we really perceive it only as an element of preparation for 2020.”
