ESL announces a change in the format of Pro League Season 11 for CS: GO. The tournament was divided into European and American divisions in order to protect participants from the threat of coronavirus infection. Some teams also refused to participate in the tournament – while they retain their place in the league.
EPL Season 11 will not feature Renegades and Sharks Esports. Both teams will spend this period at home to ensure the safety of players. One of the vacant seats will be taken by Swole Patrol, and another participant will be announced later. ESL also said that the Heroic slot, which sold the FunPlus Phoenix lineup, went to BIG.
The organizers formed new groups: three for the European division and two for the American. Natus Vincere and forZe remained in Group B, where BIG replaced Heroic, and North took the place of FURIA Esports. Virtus.pro was moved to group D, where mousesports, G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, OG and TyLoo were also sown.
According to the results of the group stage, the four best teams of the American division will fall into the double-elimination format. Teams from the first and second places will receive slots in the upper grid, and the compositions from the third and fourth lines – in the bottom. All matches will be played until two victories, and the grand finals – up to three.
In Europe, the group stage will be held in two stages. The three best teams according to the results of the first round will go to the second with the same format automatically. Teams from second and third places will play the remaining three slots in additional meetings. The winner of the second round will receive a slot in the final of the competition, and his opponent will be the best remaining in the top 3 squads.
