ESL One Rio 2020 moved to November – prize pool increased to $ 2 million

CS: GO ESL One Rio 2020 organizers have announced that they will host the tournament in November instead of the fall major. The reason for this decision was the coronavirus pandemic. The prize pool of the only major in 2020 was increased to $ 2 million.

The championship will be held November 19-22 at the Jeunesse Arena, where the 2016 Summer Olympics were held. ESL said that already purchased major tickets can still be used to attend the event, however, those who wish can return the money spent.

Whether the list of ESL One Rio 2020 participants and minors remains the same before it is not reported. Tournament organizers will reveal format details later. ESL and Valve also promised to talk about events that will be held instead of the competitions scheduled for May.

ESL One Rio 2020 was supposed to be held from May 11 to 24 in Brazil. The minors planned to arrange from April 26 to May 2. The initial prize pool of the competition was a million dollars.
