ESL complicates Intel Grand Slam third season rules

ESL announced the third season of the Intel Grand Slam and introduced updated competition rules. Now the system will have special championships, the trophies of which will give an advantage in the fight for a million dollars.

The third season of the Intel Grand Slam will start with IEM Chicago 2019. As before, the system includes championships of the Intel Extreme Masters series, ESL One, ESL Pro League and DreamHack Masters. IGS organizers have designated the following Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, ESL One Cologne and potential majors from ESL and DreamHack as special tournaments of the third season.

To get a million dollars, teams will have to win six of ten championships – the countdown is from the first victory, separately for each team. Another way: pick up the trophy of a special tournament and any three competitions from the IGS series. In this case, the composition should also have time to earn titles for ten championships.

The winner of the first season of Intel Grand Slam was Astralis – she won DreamHack Masters Marseille 2018, ESL Pro League Season 7, Intel Extreme Masters XIII Chicago and ESL Pro League Season 8. In the second season, a million dollars received Team Liquid.
